Top 5 greatest scientists of all time

1) Albert Einstein
"What the world would like if I were a beam of light?" The question was chasing Einstein since his young years. "I promise you four papers." he wrote to his friend in 1905 and every each of them would deserve Nobel Prize alone. Actually, he wrote 5 of them. At June 30th of that year editor Max Plancke published Einstein’s third paper in the row, entitled "On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies" which was nothing more than rejection of Newtonian mechanics and establishing what we know as the Special Theory of Relativity, although Einstein himself prefered more modest name "the Theory of Invariances" at first. At November, 21th he published an article with the title of him self "Does the Inertia of a Body Depend Upon Its Energy Content?" where he based on the work of Faraday-Maxwell (electro-magnetism, speed of light), René Descratec-The Marquise du Châtelet (kinetic energy E=mv2, concept vis viva), Antonie Lavoisiere (conversation of energy), Lisa Meitner (nuclear fission) and others who were carried on the candle of science from one generation to the another, added his own insight concenrated in the world’s famous equation E=mc2. As well as passionate about physics he was also about the love, when he made a deal with his first Serbian wife Mileva Marić who in fact contributed to his work, to let her and to the family money from the Nobel Prize and married in 1920 again with his cousin and early love Elsa. Just one child from his marriage survived with a consistent mind and fluid scientist Hans A. Einstein futher passed down the part of heritage to Bernad Einstein who have become an engineer at Texas Instruments.
2) Nikola Tesla
A Serbian guy who has been send by his uncle to the America after he lost almost all his money and missed the train to pursue a meeting with his idol at that time, Thomas A. Edison. "I know just two great man, one is you and the second one is staying in front of you." stated the letter he carried from Serbenian director of Edison's electric company. But the cooperation should not last long and when Edison refused to pay off Tesla with promised 50.000$ with words "You don't just understand American sense of humor." for the improving of his DC alternators, he decided to open his own lab in the neighborhood and soon afterward established long-term and warm partnership with G. Westinghouse. "You have been always generous to me when I needed and I will now repay it back to you." he said when he canceled his agreement on charges for electricity which were plunging Westinghouse's company down and could make Tesla one of the most wealthy man in the world. He believed his biggest inventions laid just ahead of him and claimed he sleep no more than 2 hours per day. He began feared by bacterias which was a bit of buzz in 19th century and avoided any physical contact. His unmatched talent and gift for visualization was obsessed by AC current, neon tubes, induction motor, hydroelectric power station, X-ray, radio, wireless power which he all invented on his very own, paving the way towards 20th century.
3) Sir Isaac Newton
Brought up by his strict grandmother while his mother left him at the age of 3 he developed some difficulties to establish relationships with other people with inclination to males (though any physical contact he regarded as disgusting). He is widely recognized as pivotal figure of scientific revolution by his book Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica in which he laid the foundation of classical mechanics and by work on celestial body mechanics, fluid mechanics, spectrum of light, reflecting telescope, calculus and among others concept of “ether” as the underlying fabric of cosmos which was latter on reformulated by Einstein into the concept of spacetime. His 3 famous equations allowed us to step into the shores of cosmic ocean and many others stay on the shoulders of this giant.
While he’s remembered for his insight in math, phys and optics, his mind was occupied chiefly by alchemy and theology.
4) Leonardo da Vinci
We could hardly found more profound mind :-) Though Florentine court records says something about homosexual sodomy act in 1476, his mind was indeed unbounded. His genius saw deep interconnection in everything which surrounded him, beginning with math and continues with music, literature, geology, botany, history, paleontology, ichnology, architecture, psychology, painting (Mona Lisa, The Last Supper-he was wandering through the streets of Florentine before he found model for Judas for more then 1 year). He was possessed with anatomy and engineering (war machines, tank) and in particularly by flying of which he dreamed for most of his life (helicopter, glider attempts, …) but the current state of medieval technology had not allowed him to turn his ideas into reality. He was trapped in 16th century.
5) Democritus
Democritus, also called “The Laughing Philospher” from Abder within Ionia Empire around 400B.C is regarded as the father of atomic theory, almost 2.500 years before it has been proofed.
He was the first man to realize that the stars are other Suns. Beyond campfires, Backbone of Night, Milk of Hera, the mind of Democritus soared.
Thought there is just a little to know about him, he is also remembered for his quote:“A life without a joy is like a long journey without an inn.”
  • W. Shakespeare
Though he with no doubt deserves more than footnote, we could not forget to mention this biggest Social scientist and engineer of all time who for more than 400 years shows us the deepest faculties of men.
