Jurassic Park has made people obese!

A movie theater in Chicago is to thank for our extra large portions. In 1967, the area manager of Balaban move theater chain, David Wallerstein, realized people would buy multiple bags of popcorn and drinks. So, he decided to give the option of larger sizes. They made a lot more money off of the larger sizes, because they were priced higher than the popcorn would have been compared to the standard size.It may sound strange, but the Jurassic Park movie can be traced back to one of the most often blamed culprits for obesity: The McDonald's Super-Size meal. Super-sized meals aren't exactly the norm, but they can be found in a variety of places. It is mostly an American phenomenon, but places like England have it, too. An American medium sized drink is a Mexican size large. Our portions in general are larger than most other countries.
It was really successful and McDonalds recruited him for it. It took some convincing of McDonald's founder, but eventually in 1972 they introduced large fries for the first time. Customers saw it as a value pack. They did great, so other fast food chains.
The super-size was introduced first in McDonalds in 1993 as a promotional for Jurassic Park first coined "Dino-size". The super-sized drink is 42 ounces of pop. McDonalds actually started phasing out the super-size in 2004, but a lot of places still utilize it.
